Bring on Spring!

Seriously. I'm over Winter. I am ready to unleash my child's energy outdoors! We have had a few warm, though very windy, days in the past week. Yesterday, for example, was 70-degrees . . . only to be ousted by another cold front with freezing (literally!) temps slapping us in the face today. Ugh.

We did take advantage of the warmer weather, however brief. Thursday I put Bailey in a sundress. I was so excited to bare her baby biceps! It was really windy, though, and you know how paranoid I am about, well, everything - so I made her wear a sweater too. I took her out to play in the backyard. She was pretty excited, as you can see:
Until I put her in the grass. Oh my, she did not like the grass. She was frozen in place, refusing to move her feet without my assistance (hand-holding and gentle encouragement).
We've played in the grass a couple times since these pictures and each time she gets a little more comfortable so I am encouraged that she doesn't harbor any real grass phobia. Whew! No doubt she'll love it even more when we mow and hopefully some of the dead patches fill in.

Boo Boo

It was inevitable, I know, but we're still bummed that Bailey got her first real "boo boo" today.

We thought we would take her outside to enjoy the "warm"(er) weather this afternoon. We all could use some of that delicious vitamin D! Our playtime outside was short-lived, however . . .

She spotted her buddy (aka wooden-scarecrow-welcome-sign) at the top of the stairs and, after lots of waving, she managed to conquer the first two stairs before asking for mommy to help her down. Apparently she doesn't like the scarecrow enough to climb all the way to the stop!
I bet you thought I was going to tell you she fell on the stairs, didn't you? Nope (at least not this time)!

It was actually the tiny little step from the garage to the driveway that was her downfall (pardon the pun, I couldn't resist!). First she tripped up it into the garage but only had dirty hands to show for it. I picked her up and turned her around toward the driveway but she clearly had not made a mental note of that little step because she fell forward, again onto her hands, but then the momentum carried her on ... where her sweet little face met the concrete. Ouch!

I held my breath for a split second, waiting to see if she would need consolation or if we would be able to distract her from the incident. She cried immediately so I scooped her up to soothe her. Imagine my surprise to see blood dripping from her lip! She has a little gash on the outside of her bottom lip but otherwise is intact.

Her tears stopped pretty quickly after the bleeding stopped. We cleaned her up and sent her on her way with her "Boo Boo Buddy". Boo Boo Buddy is a Cookie Monster ice pack. I purchased it many months ago knowing that this day would come eventually. It's been sitting in the freezer waiting for just such an unfortunate occasion. As it turned out, she wouldn't let me hold it on her lip but she was very compliant when I asked her to "kiss" Cookie Monster. Her lip was already a little swollen when we put her down for nap but she doesn't act like it hurts at all so we can't complain.
(p.s. Sorry the color is off on today's pictures - the camera was set to "Color Swap" mode for some reason!)

Oh my DARLING.

I don't know if you have noticed this but, in case you have missed the glaringly obvious, I will state it for you: Bailey is ridiculously ADORABLE! If I do say so myself.

I haven't posted anything recently and I'm not sure why. It seems like we have been busy but honestly how busy could we have been considering we were essentially snowed in last week with over a foot of snow on the ground?

In case you are wondering, we did take Bailey out in the snow again but it went much like her first (and last) experience with snow. She's still not a fan.
Bailey continues to grow and change at warp speed. She's so much fun. Not a single day goes by that I don't think to myself how stinkin' cute she is walking around exploring things or how I delight in the jibberish she has recently become fluent in. She has started telling us "no" - in the form of vehement head shaking. It's cute that she has such an opinion about things, although it would be nice if it we could change her mind occasionally . . . particularly with food. She actually eats pretty well these days but sometimes she's fickle. And feisty.

Oh yes, our little girl is spirited, for sure. Not that we expected anything less!

Below are a few pictures I took today:
